The visit marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between Japan and Bangladesh, particularly in the realm of industrial development and foreign investment.
Accompanied by senior officials and representatives from both JICA and BSEZ, Ms. Miyazaki, Executive Senior Vice President of JICA, and Mr. Taro Kawachi, Managing Director of BSEZ, conducted a comprehensive tour of the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone. During the visit, they inspected key infrastructure facilities within the zone, including the Central Water Treatment Plant and the LION Kallol factory—BSEZ’s first operational Japanese tenant.
During her visit, Ms. Miyazaki reaffirmed JICA’s strong commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s economic transformation through the development of world-class industrial infrastructure. Also emphasized the importance of projects like BSEZ in promoting foreign direct investment (FDI), enhancing manufacturing capabilities, and creating employment opportunities.
Leveraging the strength of BSEZ’s world-class infrastructure and investment-friendly environment, an increasing number of foreign companies are planning to establish their next manufacturing facilities within the zone. As a result, BSEZ is well-positioned to play a vital role in Bangladesh’s transformation into a regional manufacturing hub.
