BEZA Launches First Regional OSS Center at Japanese Economic Zone to Boost Foreign Investments

Launch of Bangladesh’s First Regional OSS Center:
The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) inaugurated the country’s inaugural regional One Stop Service (OSS) center at the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone in Araihazar, Narayanganj, on November 28, 2023.

The OSS Center aims to enhance the investment climate and attract foreign investments by providing quality services to investors.

Japanese Ambassador Emphasizes Investment Climate:
Ambassador Iwama Kiminori highlighted the importance of not only building quality infrastructure but also improving the investment climate to attract foreign investments.

The OSS center is part of the “Project for Capacity Building of Beza on EZ Management and Investment Promotion,” supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Efforts to Improve the Business Environment and Attract Foreign Investments:
Japanese companies in Bangladesh expressed dissatisfaction with the business environment, particularly administrative procedures.
The regional OSS center is expected to streamline licensing procedures, reduce time and costs for investors, and contribute to increased private investment from Japan and around the world.

The regional OSS center marks a significant step in Bangladesh’s efforts to facilitate foreign investments and create a more investor-friendly environment. With streamlined processes and enhanced services, it is anticipated to not only benefit Japanese businesses but also attract global investors, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth and development.
